About us

The Kuala Lumpur Christian Conference (KLCC) was formed in 1997 with a single purpose: to encourage godliness through expository Bible teaching.

In 1999, KLCC together with Evangel Book Centre, organised the first Klang Valley Bible Conference (KVBC). This conference has since become an annual event with preachers such as Don Carson, David Cook, David Jackman, Bryan Chappel, Mike Raiter and John Woodhouse expounding God's Word.
Expository Preaching Seminars (EPS), aimed at pastors, preachers and teachers, have been organised in conjunction with KVBC since 2001. Each year, EPS seeks to encourage and strengthen Christian leaders in an aspect of expository preaching.

In 2009, we held our first Expository Preaching Seminars  in Ipoh and Penang. In 2010, the Penang Bible Conference was launched. This year, we are organsing our first Ipoh Bible Camp a two-day intensive targeted particularly at those who preach and teach the Bible. We are also co-organanising our first Klang Valley Pastors Seminar with our partners in the Gospel Ministry Network.

About Evangel

It is an evangelical Christian literature ministry serving the churches with an emphasis on bibles, reference works, commentaries and group study materials. Any marginal profit is used to further this literature ministry or other Christian charitable work

Our Tribute to Mr Eric Kirton

Mr Eric Kirton, our beloved chairman of the Klang Valley Bible Conference (KVBC) and Expository Preaching Seminar (EPS) was called home to glory on 24 March 2007.

Born and bred in Scotland, he heeded God's call to missions work in Malaysia since 1958 leaving a lasting legacy spanning the length and breadth of Peninsular Malaysia. Indeed, he was that rare combination of abilities and practicality – a faithful preacher, a gifted bible teacher and a passionate bookman who served on the management board of Evangel Book Centre.

Our first encounter with this humble servant of God was way back in 1998 when the Kuala Lumpur Christian Conference (KLCC) Committee organized a weekend conference and invited Mr Kirton to be one of the speakers. We remembered being much encouraged by this godly man who faithfully shared God's word with us. Thus when KLCC started the annual city conference, known as the Klang Valley Bible Conference (KVBC), we made no hesitation in inviting Evangel to be the co-organiser of the conference. Initially both parties were rather anxious as to the outcome of this informal alliance but we hit off very well with Mr Kirton, the representative of Evangel, right from the start and like they said, the rest was history. Through the years we got to know him quite well as we worked together on the committee. We were young and inexperienced, yet he treated us as his equals. He became more than a mentor, he became our friend and father figure.

In so many ways he was truly a man of God to emulate. He was a treasure trove of godly wisdom, providing encouragement and advice, always available but yet never intruding. He was a man of conviction, faithful to Scriptures and passionate for the Gospel. In conversations, he was a great delight. He regaled us with stories of his earlier days in Malaysia and we learnt from his countless experiences told with ready wit and humour. His unique Scottish sense of humour was a force to reckon with! He had inspired us in so many different ways. And we do feel much the poorer without him.

It was our privilege and honour to have had worked with him on the committee and we will always cherish memories of our time together. Just as Mr Kirton had faithfully followed Christ Jesus, we can only continue that heritage by following in his footsteps in obedience to God's calling for each of us. We thank God for sending him to minister to us in Malaysia and set us a great example of a life to follow.

Mr Kirton had kept the faith and finished the race well. May God grant us the grace to do likewise.
